NCAT-ECU Early Assurance Scholars Program

Mission

The North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (NCAT) and East Carolina University - Brody School of Medicine (BSOM) Early Assurance Scholars Program (EASP) was developed to provide a unique opportunity for select students at NCAT pursuing a career in medicine.

Outstanding students entering NCAT as freshmen may apply for the EASP. Up to eight scholars will be selected to participate in the program each year. The top two EASP student scholars will be guaranteed seats in the BSOM entering class (4 years in advance). Provided that the program requirements are maintained, the top two students will not be required to take the MCAT (*if SAT math + verbal scores are greater than or equal to 1200) and will be automatically accepted to BSOM at the end of the junior year.

All participants will be required to complete a ‘common curriculum track’ in order to complete all medical school requirements and  be prepared to take the MCAT  (if required) by the end of the junior year. The EASP is NOT discipline specific; therefore, students in all majors at NCAT may apply.
